SASKATOON, SK – The Salvation Army celebrated five years of sponsorship from PotashCorp Inc. for the “Food on the Move” program in Saskatoon. With the gracious sponsorship from PotashCorp, the program has served an average of 5,500 bagged lunches each summer to underprivileged children at 10 inner-city park locations, totaling over 22,000 meals. To date, The Salvation Army has received a total of $110,000.00 from PotashCorp to support the Saskatoon Food On The Move program.

To mark this milestone, The Salvation Army hosted a carnival for the program’s recipients with a special presentation for Rhonda Speiss, Manager of Corporate Philanthropy for PotashCorp, on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Isinger Park. The PotashCorp’s “Food on the Move” Appreciation Carnival was complete with games, prizes, treats and a BBQ for an estimated 250 children. This event provided an opportunity to thank PotashCorp and allow them to meet those they are assisting, as well as to offer the children a little extra fun this summer. A special “ticket” to the carnival was issued to the children who receive meals from the program throughout the summer.
