Moose Jaw, SK The Moose Jaw Salvation Army is cleaning up after a part of its sorting centre went up in flames overnight.

It is believed that clothing left outside of the sorting centre caught fire and then spread to the building on High Street around 3:00 a.m. this morning.

Total damage is estimated at $30,000.

The Salvation Army appreciates the help of a Good Samaritan who noticed the blaze and helped keep it under control before the fire department arrived, helping save a larger portion of the building.

Because of this, the building can remain open and continue to serve the needs of the community and surrounding area.

The Salvation Army wants to remind the public that leaving items outside of the sorting centre and other Salvation Army Thrift Stores after hours is not recommended.
