A message from Major Morris Vincent, Divisional Command of Ontario Great Lakes Division.
Join me today, 03 September 2013, in viewing The Ontario Great Lakes Division Strategic Plan as it has now been launched on www.salvationarmy.ca/ong
The Ontario Great Lakes Division of the Salvation Army has a responsibility to support, guide and represent the Territorial Salvation Army across a significant geographical area of Ontario. This includes an area from Windsor to Thunder Bay, Thunder Bay to Timmins, Timmins to Niagara Falls and Niagara Falls to Windsor. The Ontario Great Lakes Division is one of nine Divisions in the Canada & Bermuda Territory two of which are in Ontario.
In 2006, the Ontario Great Lakes Division completed its last Strategic Plan which had a five year timeline to 2011. An update was completed to the Plan to bridge through to 2012/2013. In the spring of 2012, the Divisional Commander launched a comprehensive strategic planning program for the Division. The work program involved the development of Area Strategic Plans for Windsor, London, Hamilton and Thunder Bay.
On February 19th and 20th, 2013, the Divisional Executive Board members and a representative of the Territorial Office met with the facilitator in a Strategic Planning Workshop to develop the Divisional Strategic Plan for 2013 to 2017. The workshop involved presentations from a representative of the Territorial Office on the Territorial Strategic Plan; a presentation on societal trends and influences; and a review of the strategic themes that emerged from the Environmental Scans for the other areas of the Division involved in strategic planning initiatives.
The end result of these deliberations was a new 5 year Strategic Plan for the Ontario Great Lakes Division entitled The Salvation Army “In Community” which is depicted by the Infographic posted on the divisional website.
