111616-BarrieHITC_121With 205 guests in attendance, The Salvation Army hosted their 7th annual Hope in The City Leadership Breakfast in Barrie. An inspiring event that has kicked off the annual Kettle Campaign and Christmas giving was treated to a keynote address from Major Danielle Strickland, whose passion for justice had led her to serve in the poorest communities in North America.

Major Strickland is described as a woman with “aggressive compassion.” Armed with first hand stories of hope and justice prevailing in situations of great fear, loss, and hopelessness, Major Strickland captivated all in attendance with her call to look beyond the cultural views and stereotypes we so often place on those we meet, but to see them as an equal, worthy of respect and compassion.

Thank you to all guests and sponsors who make this event such an incredible success every year!
