Help to End Summer Hunger

This summer, more than 950,000 Canadians will turn to a food bank for help. But, unfortunately, donations to food banks drop off when the weather gets warm.

“Summer is always hard because donations tend to taper off,” says Pam Grimm of The Salvation Army in Kelowna, B.C. “Our food bank is essentially completely out of some items such as canned proteins and cereals.”

Grimm says The Salvation Army expects even more people to start using their service in the fall as the financial strain on families will increase due to back-to-school needs.

Many Salvation Army food banks are finding it difficult to stock the shelves this summer. Please consider donating to your local food bank and change the outcome of someone’s day. Everyone should have enough food to eat.
