For the past four years Energy 103.5 and Sportwheels have worked together to gather and repair bikes to donate to children in need. In May after all of the bikes had been rounded up and repaired, they were stolen from the storage facility located behind Sportwheels. “It was pretty heart wrenching,” says Jeff Mayhew, owner of Sportwheels, who had thought that someone must have simply moved the bikes.

The bike drive was delayed by 30 days due to the theft, but with the help of Energy 103.5, local news stations, social media and using some of his own stock, Jeff and the team at Sportwheels have scrounged up 50 new bikes for children in need. This is double the amount of bikes that they donated last year!

“We are grateful to Sportwheels and Energy 103.5 for donating refurbished bikes to children in need, for the fourth year in a row— your generosity will put a smile on childrens faces this summer,” says Rhonda Harrington, Divisional Secretary, Public Relations and Development at The Salvation Army.

A huge thank you to the team at Sportwheels, Energy 103.5 and everyone from the community who donated bikes to ensure that more kids are given the opportunity to enjoy being active this summer!
