The cafeteria was full of campers and counsellors enjoying their meal as representatives from The Salvation Army Thrift Stores in the Maritimes presented a cheque for almost $16,000 to help send children to camp.  “We are so glad to be able to present this cheque to Scotian Glen Camp today.  We want them to be able to continue the wonderful work that they are doing, and we are thrilled to see the smiling faces on so many happy campers,” says Julie Buchanan, District Manager for Nova Scotia Thrift Stores.

Thrift stores across the Maritimes raise money by hosting various fundraisers such as barbeques and cash donations given by customers throughout the year.  Employees at the thrift stores create financial goals and think of fun ways to get customers excited about donating.  This week at Scotian Glen Summer Camp, 106 campers were able to participate in activities such as swimming, canoeing, making crafts and more. Through donations such as these, Scotian Glen Camp is able to grow and provide an unforgettable experience for children from low-income households. To make your donation through our website, please visit: https://salvationarmy.ca and click on the donate button at the top of the screen, or by telephone contact Leigh Anne MacDonald at: 902-455-1201 ext. 230.
