Last weekend, young people aged 18 – 30 gathered at the Holiday Inn in Truro, NS, to replenish and connect. For some people, the hardest part of their lives is when they are in their 20s. It can be a time of self-doubt and confusion as they attempt to figure out what they want to do with their lives. This Winter Retreat weekend, allowed a safe environment to explore these topics as they focused on life choices and direction. “We want to bring them together so that they know they’re not alone,” says Captain Lisa Hillier, Divisional Youth Secretary. “Many of them are searching and we want to give them a safe place to explore God’s will for their lives. “

During the weekend, a panel discussion allowed the participants to seek career advice, and learn more about opportunities with The Salvation Army. Saturday afternoon they hosted Jalianne Li, who directed a creative movement workshop. In the evening, everyone was treated to music and treats as they attended a coffee house in the Truro Corps.

The Salvation Army holds four youth events throughout the Maritimes each year, to give young people an opportunity to enjoy and learn from each other. During daily life, many of them keep in contact using The Salvation Army Maritime Youth Facebook page. These connections are important as they strive to better themselves, and the world around them.
