Dr. Samantha Nutt – the founder and executive director of War Child Canada – will be in Halifax in May to serve as keynote speaker for the fourth annual Hope in the City Leadership Breakfast, presented by Nova Scotia Power.

The event, an annual fundraiser to support The Salvation Army, will take place on Friday, May 8, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Westin Nova Scotian. It will bring together approximately 400 business people and community leaders for a morning of networking, education and entertainment in support of the work The Salvation Army is doing in our community.

Committed to peace, human rights and social justice, Dr. Nutt’s humanitarian work has benefited thousands of war-affected children globally.

With more than 15 years of experience working in war zones, she has been at the front line of many of the world’s major crises – from Iraq to Afghanistan, Somalia to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sierra Leone to Darfur, Sudan. Over the course of her professional career, she has spearheaded efforts to provide direct humanitarian support and long-term programming to war-affected children and their families, and to promote greater awareness in North America concerning the rights of children everywhere.

As one of the most original and influential voices in the humanitarian arena, Dr. Nutt is a respected authority for many of North America’s leading media outlets. She has been named one of Canada’s 25 Transformational Canadians by the Globe and Mail, has been appointed to the Order Of Canada, and the World Economic Forum has recognized her as one of 200 young global leaders.

Dr. Nutt is also the author of Damned Nations, available at book stores everywhere.

CTV Atlantic news anchor Steve Murphy will return to serve as emcee for the fourth consecutive year. In addition to presenting sponsor Nova Scotia Power, the event is made possible thanks to partners Investors Group and McInnes Cooper.

Tickets are available for the event at a cost of $50, or you can purchase a table of 10 for $500. CLICK HERE to download a ticket order form.
