Red Shield fundraiser helps support Salvation Army work in northeastern Nova Scotia

    The Salvation Army in northeastern Nova Scotia recently held its annual Red Shield Campaign fundraiser in Pictou, raising over $4,000 to help people in need in the region.

    WEB1Held at Pictou Lodge, the fundraiser featured Alain Bosse, the Kilted Chef, doing a demo of lobster and mussel preparation, treating the 150 in attendance to sample the prepared food. The event also included a live and silent auction, music and motivational speaker Buhle Dlamini.

    “Our Red Shield kick off was once again a fantastic event that helped raise critical funds for the work we do in northeastern Nova Scotian,” said Captain Dolores Abbott, Director of Community Ministries. “We would like to thank our partners, and members of the community who came out to ensure the continued success of this event.”

    The funds raised will assist with practical needs like food, clothing and shelter, year-round. Some services offered in the area include Christmas support hampers, sending kids to summer camp and supporting those affected in times of crises through Emergency Disaster Services.
