Win a bike, donate a bike, with Halifax radio contest

Listeners to a Halifax radio station are currently enjoying a contest giving away a bicycle a day throughout the month of May, while also ensuring that children without bikes get a chance to take part in the fun as well.

Halifax station Energy 103.5 launched its Recycle your Cycle contest this week, running from May 1-31. The contest, run in partnership with Sportwheels in Lower Sackville, encourages listeners to visit the website and fill out an entry form, including the reason you would like to win a new bike. Each day throughout the month one winner will be chosen to receive a new Louis Garneau children’s bike from Sportwheels.

That’s when the ‘recycle’ part of Recycle Your Cycle kicks in. The winner will trade in their current bike, which Sportwheels will then refurbish to great condition. These bikes will then be picked up by The Salvation Army Community and Family Services and distributed to children in need in Halifax.

If you are inspired by this contest and would like to donate a gently used bike to a family in need, contact your local Salvation Army or Thrift Store.
