Halifax Water, in partnership with The Salvation Army, is pleased to announce the H2O-Help to Others, Water Assistance Program. The new program, being implemented April 1st, will provide valuable financial assistance to Halifax Water customers truly in need.

The H2O Fund is intended to assist low income households in an emergency, especially those with no other resources available. The H2O Fund assists with the cost of residential water and waste water.

Halifax Water General Manager Carl Yates said, “Halifax Water recognizes that the recent rate increase, while necessary, may be a hardship to some customers. This new program will help assist customers who are truly in need. Halifax Water is pleased to be working with The Salvation Army on this very important program.”

Halifax Water is providing annual base funding of $25,000 with the potential to reach $75,000 through a Halifax Water employee contribution program. The H2O Fund is fully administered by The Salvation Army.

“We are pleased to partner with Halifax Water on this new initiative as it is a direct link to our mission of helping those in need in our community,” says Rhonda Harrington, Director of Public Relations & Development, The Salvation Army, Maritime Division.

Anyone seeking assistance must complete and submit the H2O Fund application with the required supporting documents. The forms can be downloaded here. Application forms are also available at Halifax Water’s 450 Cowie Hill Rd. office, The Salvation Army’s Gottingen St. location, and all HRM Customer Services Centres.
