Support prenatal clients, mothers and babies throughout the week nights as required which will include providing short term respite for infants, following client plans of care and managing client behaviors.
Ensure the safety and security of the building throughout the week nights which will include client room checks and security checks as required.
Perform administrative responsibilities which will include understanding and following the ministry licensing requirements, maintaining records such as the log books, progress notes as well as completing incident reports as required.
Administer and record medications in the medication binder according to ministry licensing requirements.
Complete week night household chore responsibilities (cleaning, baking and cooking preparation) as required.
Follow the policies and procedures of the agency. Uphold health and safety expectations.
Maintain communication with the Program Manager as well as conduct shift change with residential staff.
Assist in the orientation training for new employees when required.
Attend residential team meetings
Complete documentation as set out by the agency
Perform other position related duties as required.

Completed two (2) years or more of Community College
Diploma/Degree in Child and Youth Worker/Social Service Worker preferred
Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience, including front-line casework
Residential experience working with teens in a 24/7 environment including holidays and stats.
Working experience and formal education with Young Parent population and their infants with an understanding of pregnancy and parenting as well as knowledgeable in the developmental stages from infancy through adolescence
Cultural awareness and sensitivity
Ability to work as part of the team, problem solve, time management and decision making for effective client care; to provide support and up to date information to young parents
Ability to provide a supportive and non-judgmental approach
Current Safe Food Handling Certification
Current First Aid, CPR and NVCI
Bilingualism is an asset
Proficient documentation as required; knowledge and experience in meal planning and preparation
Ability to time manage housekeeping tasks as required
Proficient in computer use, i.e. word processing and proficiency with email
Good time management and ability to prioritize is required
Self-motivated and disciplined
Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured through the National Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment
Screening through the Salvation Army Abuse Registry
Support for and an understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada
NOTE: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered

Work schedule is as follows and based on 33 hours per week. The normal hours of work are four night shifts per week Monday to Thursday from 11:45 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. Includes a ½ hour paid meal break and each shift includes 15 minutes for shift change at the beginning of each shift.
