RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide overall direction and supervision of the camp staff and the campers.
Lead the development and planning of the camp, coordinating all aspects of the Camping Experience.
Oversee the coordination of the educational programming with other camp activities
Provide direct leadership of daily operations
Lead the development of the staff-training program and oversee its application.
Holds primary responsibility for camper and employee safety.
Oversee engagement of volunteers and their activities
Preserve the integrity of church building and premises
Communicate with camper families
Support day camp marketing efforts
Assign administrative duties as required
Prepare staff , program and camp evaluations at the conclusion of camp to include areas of success and those of concern to be addressed for the next camping season
Perform other position related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Completed one (1) year of post-secondary education
Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience, inclusive of supervisory experience
Experience working in a day camp program would be a definite asset
A love of music and working with children
Extensive brass knowledge with a kind, gentle, and patient demeanor to deal with beginning players
Strong oral and written communication skills
Self-motivated and disciplined
Excellent interpersonal skills
Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.
Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
Support for and an understanding of mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.
Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the National Canadian Policy Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.

This is a temporary, full time position based on 40 hours per week. The working conditions are such that in order to meet the operational needs of the camp some flexibility is required as it relates to hours of work.

Start Date: June 26th, 2017 End Date: August 11, 2017

Schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities for clean-up for before and after camp for the duration of the camp program. The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule. The normal hours of work are Monday to Friday – 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
