Provide leadership of various camp activities including: band time, theory, games, crafts, bible time, snack, and outdoor activities.
Supervise a group of children with another team member, monitor their activities, encourage participation.
Ensure the health and safety of all children.
Provide a safe and fun environment for all children.
Attend all field trips.
Participate in all activities (i.e. games, skits, stories, etc).
Provide medical attention when needed and report incident to camp supervisor and record in log book.
Guide campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities.
Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities.
Observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
Perform other position related duties as required.

Completed a minimum of grade 10
Have some volunteer and/or work experience of working directly with children.
First Aid & CPR Certification is required.
Have a love of music and for working with children.
Ability to be proactive in dealing with distracting behaviors
Strong oral and written communication skills
Have a knowledge of music and brass
A kind, gentle, and patient demeanor to deal with beginning players
Be consistent and reliable
Self-motivated and disciplined
Excellent character, integrity, a positive attitude, enthusiastic in nature and adaptable.
The desire to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere.
Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the National Canadian Policy Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.
May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
Support for and an understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.

This position may be funded in part through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria:
o be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of the program
o have been registered as full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
o be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and,
o be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

Note: There are five (5) positions

This is a temporary, full time position based on 40 hours per week. The working conditions are such that in order to meet the operational needs of the camp some flexibility is required as it relates to hours of work.

Start Date: July 3rd, 2017 End Date: August 11th, 2017

Schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities for clean-up for before and after camp for the duration of the camp program. The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule. The normal hours of work are Monday to Friday – 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Required to provide written confirmation of enrollment for the next academic year in a post-secondary program.
