The Salvation Army is proud to partner with The Push for Change in supporting a summer “warm up” training trek which will take place between Calgary to Vancouver.

Joe Roberts was formerly homeless inVancouver’s Downtown Eastside and, with the help of The Salvation Army along the way, is now a successful business man.  He created The Push for Change to raise money and awareness for homeless youth at risk.

The 10th annual Quadra Village Day was held on Saturday, May 12th. This fun-filled event featured a pancake breakfast, two stages of entertainment, fun activities and interesting information about the vibrant Hillside Quadra Community.

Located right in the heart of Quadra Village is The Stan Hagen Centre for Families. Staff and volunteers from the centre were on hand helping kids make Mother’s Day crafts, apply Sally Ann tattoos and answer any questions about the programs and services offered by the facility.

With a total of $22,953 raised so far and a goal of $72,000 – March 23rd, marked Passion Vancouver at Rogers Arena where youth aged 18 – 25 and their leaders were encouraged to attend and give support to ending human slavery.

Long hot summer days, a dip in the pool, star-filled nights, camp fires, roasted marshmallows, seeing old friends, making new ones. Expanding horizons and creating memories. Across Canada kids come alive at our summer camps. Last year close to 4,500 children from marginalized communities experienced life at its best and learned the values of friendship and caring through our various camp programs.

Salvation Army Thrift Stores in Western Canada send 101 kids to Camp

Over a four-week period, Salvation Army Thrift Stores throughout Western Canada held a fundraising ‘Send a Kid to Camp’ initiative.

From April 14th to May 14th, donations were collected at participating stores and, through the public’s generosity, 101 kids will get to go to camp this summer – kids who would otherwise normally not have had this opportunity.

Every year, Salvation Army camps provide close to 5,000 kids nationwide a safe, fun and memorable experience.
