12th Annual Donnelly Group Toy Drive.


The Salvation Army is thankful to have had the support once again from the Donnelly Group for the 12th Annual Donnelly Group Toy Drive in Vancouver.

Golf Tournaments raises dollars and gives hope.


A beautiful Vancouver day welcomed the 27th Annual Shaughnessy Women’s Charity Golf Tournament supporting The Salvation Army Kate Booth House.

Over 130 golfers participated in this year’s event, raising dollars and awareness for Kate Booth House – a shelter for women and their children who are victims of domestic violence.

5000 kids to head to school with a new backpack full of supplies.


The Salvation Army is proud to present once again, the annual Backpack & School Supply Drive running from July 15th through until September 11th.   The goal of the effort, in partnership with BC Chiropractic Association, Staples, Fitness Town, Canadian Bible Society, Starbucks and along with media sponsors, CKNW and 24 Hours, is to raise funds and school supplies for 5000 kids in need throughout the Province as they begin a new school year .

YoYo fundraiser for victims of Alberta Floods.


With the recent flooding in Calgary, Alberta, The Salvation Army in British Columbia has deployed Emergency and Disaster Response personnel to work as part of the Alberta Disaster Response Team.

In the aftermath of such devastation, it is encouraging to see communities and individuals partner collaboratively to lend a helping hand.  In Vancouver, one young man in particular has set his sights on raising money for the victims of the Calgary floods.

55% of Salvation Army Programs see an increase in need.


A new report from The Salvation Army, released as part of Dignity Month, reveals that despite a rebounding economy, many Canadian families and young people are still struggling to make ends meet. “Youth in Need: The Economic Challenges,” revealed that since the recession began in 2008, 55 percent of Salvation Army youth programs in Canada saw an increase in demand for low-fee or free extracurricular programs and meals during those difficult times. Getting fit with The Salvation Army.


Helping people to make healthy changes in their lives is the prime focus of a new program at The Salvation Army in Williams Lake, BC.

Instructor Candice Drouin offers a range of free programs for adults, families and children, including yoga, Zumba, aerobics, cardio and stretching and strengthening exercises.

A YMCA certified fitness instructor, and a trained Zumba dance teacher, Candice worked at a fitness centre for two-and-a-half years, and got her start at the Salvation Army as a volunteer last fall.

2012 Christmas kettle campaign results.


Donors, volunteers, sponsors and partners across the province helped The Salvation Army in British Columbia with the 2012 Christmas kettle campaign in meeting the $4 million target.  The National kettle campaign raised $20.6 million, just short of the Army’s $21 million goal.

All the donations collected will go towards supporting The Salvation Army’s programs, services and resources available to those in need across local communities.
