These boots are made for walking.


The Salvation Army would like to thank everyone who came into Capital Iron to donate a pair of new or gently used work boots.

From June 15 – July 15, Capital Iron in Victoria, was collecting work boots from the public on behalf of The Stan Hagen Centre for Families. With every pair of CSA approved work boots donated, Capital Iron offered 20% off the cost of new boots.

Bruce Williams joins Victoria Advisory Board.


Being a long term support of The Salvation Army, Bruce Williams would often tell the story of how when his mother found herself without a home at a young age, The Salvation Army took her in.  The Army was there to encourage her through nursing school and ultimately, to see her live independently and support her family.  Bruce and his mother have never forgotten this act of generosity.

Victoria hosts Annual Luncheon.


On Wednesday May 15th the Victoria Advisory Board held their Annual Luncheon. The year’s theme was, To Feed the Hungry, To find the lost, to Love the Unloved resonating the core values of The Salvation Army.

used Donates Items to Assist Victoria’s Beacon of Hope House.


On May 1st, donated items collected from its site,, to the Salvation Army, fulfilling a wish list for the Beacon of Hope House.

Recently, the Beacon of Hope House moved from Vic West to Saanich and the items donated by will transform the facility into a home for the male youth who utilize the residential addiction treatment facility.

Toys collected for those in need.


Vancouver’s Vogue Theatre and Victoria’s Royal Theatre once again hosted the annual Naden Band Christmas Concert. The Concerts were hosted on December 6th in Vancouver and December 10th, 11th and 12th in Victoria, all in the name of supporting The Salvation Army’s Christmas Toy Drive.

The 19th Annual CHEK Drive Thru in Victoria and the 10th Annual CHEK News Give&GO in Nanaimo were tremendous successes!!

These events could not be possible without the support of the CHEK News.

Victoria’s Drive Thru was held at Accent Inns on Blanshard. The 1 ton truck was almost full of food, the 5 ton truck was half full of household goods, cash donations of $2,000 was also made on site.

Nanaimo’s Give&GO collected 7,000lbs of food and $1,400 worth of cash donations!

19th annual CHEK Charity Drive Thru.


The 19th annual CHEK News Christmas Charity Drive Thru takes place tonight at the Accent Inn Victoria hotel, located at the corner of Blanshard Street and Cloverdale Avenue ( 3233 Maple Street ).

Stop by between 5pm – 7pm & come meet the CHEK News On-Air personalities and donate Clothing, Food and Cash to The Salvation Army.

Thank you to one and all who visited a local Save-On Foods and Price Smart Foods location as The Salvation Army teamed up with Craftsman Collision for the fourth Annual Making a Dent Food Drive.

The day long food drive, encouraged customers to purchase much needed items for The Salvation Army with Craftsman Collision pledging to match every item donated.

This year, we are humbled by the support of the community and our corporate partners as we raised $31,657.56

Poetry to heal.


Tuesday, July 31st marked the official launch of Victoria on the Banks of the Mainstream, the latest poetry compilation from Dvora Levin. All poems included were written by participants in weekly writing sessions held at The Salvation Army’s Addictions and Rehabilitation Centre (ARC), Beacon of Hope House, Cool Aid’s Rock Bay Landing, Sandy Merriman House Shelters and Peers Victoria Resource Society
