Community Programs

Adult Day Program |  Adult Day Program offers recreational programs to older adults from Monday to Friday.  This program provides the opportunity for clients to remain socially and physically active with the care and assistance of qualified staff. It also gives caregivers much needed respite for the day. The program is committed to offering services that will help to support seniors living independently in the community.

Hospice | The Salvation Army Hospice Program offers hope  for reconciliation with loved ones, for meaning in what life has been, a time to say good-bye – for final reunion. Residents, families and health professionals, in  community with one another, renew and sustain hope within the reality of end of life care.

Complex Care Homes | This secure living environment provides dignity and care for clients with complex care needs. This type of facility provides ongoing: Pastoral Care | Palliative care services | Personal linen and Laundry services | Housekeeping services | Medical Coordinator | 24-7 Professional Nursing services | Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy | Recreational Therapy & Activity programs | Hair Salon | Dental and Podiatry services Food Services with nutritious and appetizing meals.

Residential Assisted Living |  Within a framework of dignity and holistic care The Salvation Army provides 24 hour care for each resident. The medical team is made up of a mixture of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Resident Care Aides, and Activity Aides. The rest of the care team includes Director of Care, Care Coordinator, Social Worker, Dietician, Recreation Therapist, Music Therapist, Pharmacist, Medical Director and Chaplain.

Residential Independent Living | Indipendent living provides accommodation, hospitality and personal care services in a manner that: maximizes dignity, independence and a right to privacy as well as opportunities for social interaction. This type of residential facility provides a 24-hour response system, which is monitored by on-site staff.


Buchanan Lodge | This lodge was donated in 1946 to The Salvation Army and it’s located in New Westminster. The goal of this Complex Care Facility is to provide care and services to adults whose needs meet the criteria of “complex care” as established by the Fraser Health Authority. Staff provide holistic care, with spiritual care being the “heart and soul” of their mission. Spacious rooms with wheelchair accessible bathrooms including:104 private rooms and 4 double rooms (with particular support for couples staying together) and 24-7 Professional Nursing services.

Rotary Hospice House | The Salvation Army Rotary Hospice House offers hope for forgiveness and thanksgiving and a gentle closure to life. Each of the 10 private, fully furnished resident rooms open to their own private patio, overlooking a garden, pond and meandering paths which are designed to be used by wheelchair. Residents are also encouraged to visit with significant others and surround themselves with small personal items from home.

Southview Terrace & Heights | The Salvation Army opened the doors to Southview Lodge on February 24, 1975. Southview is an affordable, Independent Living full service accommodation for older adults; 54 apartments overlook beautifully landscaped gardens. Two nutritionally balanced meals are served daily in the friendly main dining room. Weekly laundry and housekeeping services frees up time for seniors to enjoy professionally planned social, recreational, and health maintenance activities. In addition, this facility also provides Adult Day Care programs for older adults in the community. Amenities include: Tuck shop | Hairdresser | Library | Computer lab | Internet access | Games room | Wellness centre | Ambulatory care clinic.

Sunset Lodge | This Complex Care Facility is situated on the beautiful Gorge Waterway in Victoria. The faciliity includes 108 fully equipped private rooms. Sunset Lodge provides residents with nutritious meals, along with in house laundry services and a Tuck Shop. Within that framework there is 24 hour care for each resident. This care team is made up of a mixture of Nurses, Resident Care Aides, and Activity Aides. Each resident is also provided with a comprehensive individualized care plan based on their needs and requirements. A recent addition to the program at Sunset is a specialized Dementia Care Program, that is specially designed to work with individuals at various stages of dementias.Their family member or significant other is integral in the development of their specialized care goals. Recreation programs include: Exercises | Walking Groups | Outings | Therapeutic Gardening | Special Events | Entertainment | Music Therapy & Pet Therapy.
