Black and blue or gold and white?

The Salvation Army South Africa has taken the Internet phenomenon of guessing the colour of a dress to ask a serious question about domestic violence: “Why is it so hard to see black and blue?”

The Salvation Army hopes its advertisement will encourage those experiencing violence and those witnessing it to speak out as this is not about The Salvation Army, it’s about the social issue.

Under the main headline, it reads: “It’s only an illusion if you think it was her choice. One in 6 women are victims of abuse. Stop abuse against women.”

The Salvation Army BC has 10 beds for victims of human trafficking at Deborah’s Gate, has provided assistance to over 700 women in crisis, safety to over 100 children through Kate Booth House, 4 second stage housing apartments at Esther’s Place and 25 beds for women fleeing domestic violence.
