Fight on hunger.
This Saturday, September 15th from 1.00pm to 5.00pm Craftsman Collision, Save-On Foods and Price Smart Foods will team with The Salvation Army for the fourth Annual Making a Dent Food Drive to ensure, no families go hungry this Fall.
The day long food drive, which raised $25,000 last year, will see Craftsman Collision pledge to match every item donated – for every can donated by a participating customer, two cans will make it onto a shelf at a local Salvation Army Community and Family Services operation.
Holding events throughout both the Vancouver lower mainland and Vancouver Island, Making a Dent will encourage shoppers to donate food items or cash to select locations of major grocery stores, Save-on Foods and Price Smart Foods.
“We’re humbled by the efforts of our partners and grateful to see Making a Dent grow to become one of our significant annual charitable events,” shared Major Ken Ritson, Divisional Secretary for Public Relations and Development, The Salvation Army in British Columbia. “And we want to thank all the volunteers who shared their time and enthusiasm, as well as the hundreds of people who donated so generously to this worthy cause in helping us to help others in our communities.”
In particular, due to the efforts and support of Craftsman Collision through this food drive, this enables The Salvation Army in Burnaby to provide at least three months worth of food and supplies for local street ministry, feeding up to 160 people in the local community weekly.
To date, The Salvation Army has seen a notable increase in overall demand for assistance as more families have come to rely on the services and provisions offered by our local units.
