The Salvation Army is proud to be a part of the 2012 BC Seniors Games hosted by Burnaby, British Columbia from August 21 to 25.

The BC Seniors Games are an annual, multi-sport event hosted by a different BC Community each year. They are one of the largest Games organized within BC with an expected 4000 participants, aged 55 plus from all over the Province as well as 2000 volunteers who will be donating their time and enthusiasm.

Sports seen at the games, include:
Archery | Badminton | Bocce | Bridge | Carpet Bowling | Cribbage | Cycling | Darts | Dragon Boat Racing | Five Pin Bowling | Floor Curling | Golf | Horseshoes | Ice Curling | Ice Hockey | Lawn Bowling | One-Act Plays | Pickleball | Slo-Pitch | Snooker | Soccer | Swimming | Table Tennis | Tennis | Track & Field  Whist

The games were officially underway as the BC Seniors Games Torch Lighting Ceremony look place last night at Brentwood Mall.

“For too long, support to live healthy lives has lost out to other priorities in our health care system despite every indication that investments in this area lead to better health and return great savings in health care. If we, as a society, don’t change this pattern and invest significantly in healthy living initiatives over the long haul, our taxpayer-supported health care system will be unsustainable.”

The Salvation Army will be on site providing refreshments, food and support at the Games and we look forward to seeing you there.
