Coast Hotels & Resorts to Donate $5 to The Salvation Army

Coast Hotels & Resorts is helping consumers stretch their travel dollar a little further this festive season with “Friends and Family” room night discounts of 30 to 40 per cent at participating hotels in B.C., Alberta, Alaska, Washington State, Oregon and California from now until January 8th.  For every room night booked inCanadaover the holiday season under the Friends and Family program, Coast Hotels & Resorts will donate $5 to The Salvation Army.

“Coast Hotels & Resorts is proud to raise funds for The Salvation Army to support crucial programs and services for people in need,” said Sherry Baumgardner, Director of Marketing at Coast Hotels & Resorts.  “We would like to encourage people everywhere to make a difference this holiday seasons by supporting  The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle program that touches so many communities and lives across the country.”

In addition to their corporate fundraising initiative, various Coast Hotels properties have launched their own Salvation Army sponsorship programs to support their local community.

InChilliwack, B.C., the inaugural Festival of Trees is lighting up the lobby of the Coast Chilliwack Hotel from December 1st  to 24th  in support of the local Salvation Army Food Bank.  Children from nine elementary schools were invited to decorate ten trees in the hotel’s lobby, which were donated by Highland L Tree Farm.   Guests, visitors and residents are invited to drop by the hotel and vote for their favourite tree in the spirit of the season.  The class with the most votes will win a pizza lunch. Admission to the Festival of Trees is free, but visitors are encouraged to bring a donation to the food bank.

InVictoria, the Coast Victoria Harbourside & Marina’s Blue Crab Bar & Grill has a Salvation Army Angel Tree on display.  Patrons can select an Angel Tag from the tree bearing the name of a child in need and donate a gift which will be distributed to the children’s parents.  The Blue Crab Bar & Grill is also accepting tax-deductible donations to The Salvation Army in lieu of gifts.

The Coast Capri Hotel inKelowna, B.C. recently hosted the 11th annual Salvation Army Tiny Tim Charity Toy Breakfast collecting dozens of  toys for local children and donating door prizes for the event.

The Coast Bastion Inn also donated its ballroom for the annual Kettle Drive Kick-Off  Breakfast in support of the Nanaimo Salvation Army attracting more than 200 attendees.  For the sixth consecutive year, Robin Nicks, the hotel’s Catering Manager, and her two children will brave the winter weather to ring the bells and collect donations for the Nanaimo Salvation Army.
