With almost fifty thousand people filling Georgia Street, dancing to live music and with spirits running high, everyone was ready to head off to run the largest 10km race in Canada.

For the 5th straight year, The Salvation Army was found at the start line for the annual Vancouver Sun Run on April 17th, collecting donated clothing from runners.

“It was another successful year in our partnership with The Vancouver Sun Run,” said Major Brian Venables of The Salvation Army. “These donations will provide a major boost for our local Thrift Stores, so we want to say thank you to everyone who donated and are helping to support The Salvation Army and the people we assist!”

Salvation Army Thrift Stores recycle over 100 million pounds of textiles each year – significantly contributing to the reduction of items that would otherwise end up in our landfills.  As well, Salvation Army Thrift Stores provide clothing vouchers to low-income families and individuals across Canada.  These Operations exists to generate funds to support Salvation Army programs while efficiently and ethically recycling and selling donated clothing and other goods.
