Politicians from across British Columbia gathered at a special reception to “Meet the Army” in the Parliament Buildings of capital city, Victoria, on October 5th.  Ministers and MLAs associated with each of the political parties turned out in full force to learn more about The Salvation Army’s programming across the province, and to meet new Divisional Commander, Major Susan van Duinen.

“Meet the Army” is an annual event hosted by The Salvation Army in BC, and provides an opportunity for The Salvation Army to share its story and to familiarize those in government with Salvation Army programming.  This was the sixth year the event has been held.

Former politician, diplomat and Salvation Army Officer, The Honourable Roger Simmons, was on hand to make introductions and to facilitate conversation.  Roger is highly respected and well-known within government, and has been a valued member of the Victoria Advisory Board for five years.
