Trick or Treat for Food Banks

Rather than trick or treating for the typical goodies, there are some individuals and groups across Canada who are collecting non-perishable food items to help restock depleted Salvation Army food bank shelves.

For example, in Fort Erie, Ont., individuals and students will come to the door and say “Trick or Can.”  And in Penticton, B.C., Okanagan College students are also going door-to-door collecting non-perishable items.

In many Salvation Army centres there is an overwhelming demand for food. Food Banks Canada says, “With almost half of the country knowing someone who has used a food bank, it’s clear that there is hunger in every community.”
