Through our flood relief efforts in Alberta, The Salvation Army is serving over 1,200 people per day with food, hydration and emotional & spiritual care.

In Medicine Hat, we continue to respond to needs as they arise with hydration, emotional and spiritual care and other basic necessities. Our shelter suffered some damage from water and the extent of this is still being assessed.

After severe flooding in Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic, the swollen River Danube is now threatening the Hungarian capital Budapest. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has declared an emergency and his government has asked The Salvation Army to provide essential supplies and assistance as evacuations take place.

As floodwaters rise in eastern Germany, The Salvation Army is actively assisting victims and volunteer workers. Around 30 volunteers – equipped with four vehicles – are providing help across the region. This area was also heavily damaged by extensive flooding in 2002, so many of the people who have lost personal goods and are presently without an income were also effected 11 years ago.

The Salvation Army in the Czech Republic is playing an important role in helping people affected by rising floodwaters. Flood barriers have been raised on the River Vltava, which flows through the capital, Prague, but parts of the city are already affected. Salvation Army Responds to Dallas Area Tornados

Dallas, TX  – The Salvation Army quickly responded in the North Texas communities of Granbury and Cleburne after tornados caused significant damage and injuries late on Wednesday evening.

Three Salvation Army Disaster Canteens (mobile kitchens) have been deployed from the Dallas Fort Worth area and two additional units have been placed on stand-by. The Salvation Army Disaster teams are providing refreshment and spiritual and emotional support to the first responders and residents affected by the storms.
