Broadview Village has 40+ years of providing outstanding support to adults with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges and we are currently hiring a full-time temporary Workfloor Instructor, Team Leader for two months in our P.L.U.S. Program. This position reports to the Vocational Program Supervisor and the current location assignment is in the Lawrence/DVP area.

The P.L.U.S. Program provides a range of supports to individuals with mental health challenges who are interested in preparing for employment opportunities in the community. This position requires someone who has experience in the Social Services sector as well as administrative skills and workfloor experience in a rehabilitation or factory setting.  An ability to establish strong rapport and provide excellent levels of support to program participants as well as program customers in order to meet contract deadlines will be critical to success in this role.


The Workfloor Instructor, Team Leader provides support to program participants within established policies and procedures including: Employment Standards, Collective Agreements, payroll procedures, Salvation Army Accreditation, and Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, 2008 (SIPDDA).


  • Assign program participants to jobs - provide training, support & supervision
  • Establish and maintain appropriate helping relationships with workers, modeling effective/efficient behaviour and demonstrating acceptable professional behaviour
  • Deflate behavioural crises and follow appropriate protocols as needed
  • Assist in ensuring that work contracts, production quotas, equipment, deadlines and contract obligations are negotiated with customer
  • Establish production priorities and projections, ensuring completion of contracts within customer specifications & deadlines and responding to customer inquiries
  • Maintain inventories and documentation and schedule, receive and ship goods & materials
  • Assist in opening/closing procedures and with invoicing, purchase orders, recording bills of lading, corporate credit card summaries, TTC token purchase log, timecards, etc.
  • Operate and maintain all equipment associated with the shipping/receiving and movement of goods within the workshop, assisting with maintenance of workshop equipment
  • Provision of adequate training to staff, students and volunteers regarding machinery and equipment used, ensuring all required safety procedures are followed at all times
  • Other Duties As Assigned

The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement, in a professional manner, exemplifying Christian standards of conduct.


  • 2-3 years’ experience in a Social Services Agency preferred
  • Training and experience in a rehabilitation and/or factory setting
  • Certifications in Lift trucks, First Aid/CPR, NVCI
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of safe operation of machinery and equipment associated with the movement of goods in a warehouse setting
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs and stand and walk for long periods during the shift
  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral/written communication skills
  • Administrative skills including filing/tracking paperwork, managing inventory lists, computing skills such as MS office (Excel and Word), etc.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality


HOURS: 40 hours per week, currently 8am-4pm.
