Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Admit and orientate clients to the Hostel and facilitate intake process for clients; record basic, required information and provide information to the client where applicable
Assist with the supervision of clients and provide support, assistance and encouragement to clients.
Perform all necessary clerical duties for client documentation, including social services forms, computer entries and Log Book entries. Knowledge of HIFIS would be an asset.
Answer the telephone and direct all calls as necessary
Distribute client medications, document as per policy and ensure the safety/security of all client mediations
Accept donations outside of business hours, and accurately document donor details and issue a temporary receipt.
Produce cash accounting of all receipts during the shift
Carry out regularly scheduled security rounds and record round details as per policy using the appropriate forms provided.
Monitor video surveillance of the parking lots and Larch Street and take appropriate action as required
Maintain adequate form supplies and replenish when required
Maintain information in confidence as required
Ensure that all door alarms and the front boor switch are engaged at all times
Perform other position related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a Community College Diploma in Social Work, Addictions, Counseling or related field(s)
Basic computer and clerical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Ability to work unsupervised and also function as a team member.
First Aid/CPR Certification / NCVI
Provide an original copy of a Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening (where applicable) that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the National Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.
Must be able to confirm and maintain Enhanced Reliability Screening through Corrections Canada and The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
Support for and an understanding of the Mission and Purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.

Note: Two positions available.

This is a permanent, part time position based on up to 24 hours per week. Shifts will include afternoons, weekends, and overnights. Shifts include a rotating 2 or 3 week schedule.
This is a unionized position.
