Heat or Eat?

In some parts of Canada, winter can impose financial burdens and low-income families are hardest hit.

In Canada, which is described as one of the world’s wealthiest nations, thousands of people work low-paying jobs whose incomes don’t reflect the cost of living. Many are forced to choose between staying warm or putting food on the table.

When temperatures drop and fuel costs are high, support is welcome relief. In areas of the country such as PEI and Nova Scotia, The Salvation Army is partnering with energy suppliers to provide firewood, home heating oil, coal, propane and electric heat to people in need.

Everyone deserves a home that is safe and warm. To heat or eat shouldn’t have to be a choice.
