On Friday, October 1, 2010, during the 44th edition of the “Journée fèves au lard”, representatives of the Montreal Policeman’s Brotherhood (FPPM) stopped at The Salvation Army’s warehouse in Montreal, to donate $5,500 worth of food products, consisting of pork and beans, snacks, and bottled water – the equivalent of 1,071 meals.

Mr. Nikolas Klimis, of the ScotiaMcLeon Bank, chose to support The Salvation Army : “Our objective was to bring practical assistance to the population We knew that by giving to The Salvation Army, it would have a direct impact on people in difficulty.”

In total, $100,000 was collected by the FFPM and was redistributed to several charitable organizations. The organizers of this event, Misters Marc Parent, director of police services for the City of Montreal (SPVM), Roger Brulotte, honorary president of the event, and Roberto del Papa (FPPM), went to each site accompanied by their teams.

“We are grateful for the support of the FPPM,” said Major Kester Trim, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army. “The gift comes at a very good time, just when our food supplies are running out and we are struggling to keep up with the demand.”

The Salvation Army warmly thanked the initiators of this generous operation.
