Grand Prairie Salvation Army Christmas Appeal Under Way

Major Daniel Roode says the money raised over the next five-and-a-half weeks is vital towards the work done by the Salvation Army in our city.

The Salvation Army has launched it’s 2012 Christmas Appeal in Grande Prairie.

$350,000 is the goal once again this year.

“Not only are we raising money for helping people who are in need at Christmas, but the money we raise also goes into the new year so that we are able to serve folks in Grande Prairie and the surrounding area all twelve months of coming year.”

Baby Gift Bag Program Gives a Hand up to Mothers in Need

“Not everyone has the same support with the birth of a child,” says Lynne Mumford, community and family services worker for The Salvation Army in Peterborough, Ont. “Our baby gift bag, or newborn program, helps low-income mothers know that we value their child and they are not alone in this journey.”

The newborn program is one of many services offered at The Salvation Army in Peterborough that include a food bank,  breakfast program,  financial management and emergency assistance.
