Many people do not realize the extent of hunger’s reach in this country. Each month, close to 900,000 Canadians are assisted by food banks, and 93,000 of them are accessing them for the first time.

World Food Day, October 16, exists to heighten public awareness of the world food problem and strengthen unity in the struggle against hunger, malnutrition and poverty.

So how can you help?
Awareness
• Share the latest statistics about hunger with at least ten people.
Act
• Donate food or funds
Advocacy
• Find someone that’s struggling and help them get assistance.

The Salvation Army believes that there is hope, that food is a basic human right, and that no person should go hungry.

How will you be a part of the network of hunger fighters?
