The Salvation Army Pine Lake Camp is a special place. Aside from the abundant natural beauty, there is a feeling of community that draws campers back year after year. Kids aged 7-16 come from all over the province to spend a week at camp to visit old friends and make new ones, choose and enjoy activities that peak their interests, and connect with the outdoors.

Every summer Pine Lake Camp hosts 450 kids from all over the province. The camp welcomes kids from […]

It’s hard to believe 15 years have passed since the first Supreme Group Salvation Army Golf Classic was held in Edmonton. Those first few event years were lean, but with hard work and our very dedicated sponsors and committee members, the tournament regularly brings in over $200,000 a year. In total, the golf tournament has raised over $3.1 million for Salvation Army programs in Edmonton and Pine Lake Camp.

Over $233,000 was raised at the 2017 event, which will […]

When we write about The Salvation Army’s Pine Lake Camp, we usually talk about the campers. They are the kids who come from all over the Division to experience nature, outdoor activities, and God in a new way and whose lives are often impacted in immeasurable ways through the adventure. This year is no different, as there are certainly plenty of camper stories that we could share. But there is another story that happens at camp that we often overlook. It’s […]

The craft area at The Salvation Army’s Pine Lake Camp is covered in partially constructed wooden birdhouses in various stages of gluing and nailing. Small, intent little faces are concentrating hard on making them just right. Josh, a first-time camper, just finished making his first birdhouse. "This is my birdhouse. I made it," he says proudly with a big smile. "I've never made one before!"

Making bird houses is just one of many new options available to campers this summer at […]

It's 7:45 am, rise and shine campers! Okay, so those of us on the PR team were not at Pine Lake Camp that early but we did arrive just as bible study was finishing up and “options” was starting. Options happens twice a day as the kids are divided into groups to participate in climbing, low ropes, arts and crafts, mini golf, or canoeing. So that is where we joined in.

We got to talk to a number of kids. […]

During the month of May, Thrift Store customers across Alberta donated over $11K to help send kids to The Salvation Army Pine Lake Camp. For families struggling to make ends meet, the cost of summer camps is something they just can’t afford. Donations like this make camp a reality for many children who would not otherwise get to go.

“We would like to thank all of the Thrift Store customers who contributed to this donation,” said Captain Ian Gillingham, Divisional Youth Secretary. […]
