Oshawa Temple Band Visits Alberta


Celebrating their 130th anniversary this year, The Salvation Army Oshawa Temple Band made a visit to Alberta where they performed five concerts in just three days!

The tour began with a stop at Banff’s Central Park surrounded by the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Locals and tourists alike popped by and threw down blankets on the grass to take in the performance.

New Programs At Pine Lake Camp Bring Smiles


The craft area at The Salvation Army’s Pine Lake Camp is covered in partially constructed wooden birdhouses in various stages of gluing and nailing. Small, intent little faces are concentrating hard on making them just right. Josh, a first-time camper, just finished making his first birdhouse. "This is my birdhouse. I made it," he says proudly with a big smile. "I've never made one before!"

Guitar JAMing In Medicine Hat


Music filled the air at the Medicine Hat Corps as students from the Guitar JAM program showed off their new and improved guitar playing skills for a crowd of over 300 people. The students ranged in age from grade schoolers to seniors but in all of them you could see their excitement to perform, their determined focus while playing and their smiles upon hearing the applause. As residents of Fort McMurray, Alberta have begun re-entering their city after the wildfire forced them to evacuate, The Salvation Army is there to help welcome them back. Sixty Salvation Army volunteers from across Alberta were on hand to help set up welcome stations at the seven re-entry Information Centres around the city.
