Residents and business owners located in parts of downtown Calgary on October 11, 2014, were left without power for four and half days due to an Enmax fire and power outage. The disruption of services affected over five-thousand residents and tens of thousands of workers. Thankfully, The Salvation Army was there to provide support.

The Salvation Army Community Response Unit (CRU) was called in to provide refreshments and healthy snacks. Working for roughly 16 hours a day, the Emergency & Disaster Services (EDS) team served over 500 evacuees, business owners, and volunteers.
