On Sunday, October 19, 2014, The Salvation Army in Wetaskiwin held their annual Thanksgiving dinner at the local community centre, The Moose Hall, as the increasingly popular event has outgrown the space in their Corps building where it has been held previously.

Major Grant Effer, Divisional Secretary for Business Administration, was a guest of the event and shared a sermon with those in attendance at the service, held prior to the dinner. “It was a packed house,” says Major Terry Cook, Corps Officer in Wetaskiwin. “Followed by some good old-fashioned Wetaskiwin hospitality.”

Majors Terry and Joanne Cook, along with their staff and volunteers, put on a community dinner three times a year for anyone who would like to come. The Salvation Army in Wetaskiwin also runs a thrift store, and a Community & Family Services centre that includes a food bank.
