Despite frigid temperatures and extreme wind chill (cold enough to shock even the most hardy Albertan!), Edmontonians braved it all to support a worthy cause, and warm up with a free and delicious burger from Rodeo Burgers!

The great folks at Rodeo Burgers hosted a fundraiser for The Salvation Army, whereby food donations were being accepted for Edmonton Community and Family Services. “This is an important fundraiser for The Salvation Army, as the need for food continues beyond the Christmas season.” says David Dickinson, Director of Community Ministries. “This event at Rodeo Burgers helps us sustain the requirement for food needed in the Edmonton community for those who are struggling to make ends meet.”

So, how much difference can bringing in a couple of cans of soup or a box of mac ‘n’ cheese really make?

Well, quite a bit actually – when you consider that collectively, the event took in 512 food items and over $230 in cash. The food items collected are enough to provide 20 families of 4 with a food hamper, and the cash donations will support 4 families of four.

Another way to look at this is that almost 100 people will be helped directly by the community efforts of those who supported this event.

“There are two elements to this fundraiser.” says Dickinson. “Part of it is helping those who are less fortunate, but an event like this also brings the community closer together for a greater good.”

Our sincere thanks to Rodeo Burgers for hosting this successful event, and for the Edmonton community who came out to support a most worthwhile cause!
