Edmonton, May 7, 2016 – The Salvation Army’s Emergency and Disaster Services continues to provide support to first responders engaged in the Fort McMurray fire response efforts. The Salvation Army has four Community Response Units in the field that are feeding hundreds of first responders.

The Salvation Army’s Emergency and Disaster Services is providing support to first responders and those impacted by the disaster. The Salvation Army has mobilized four Community Response Units to feed first responders engaged in the Fort McMurray fire response efforts.
At this time, the best way for the public to help with relief efforts is through monetary donations. Donations can be made at SalvationArmy.ca/albertafires or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY. A $10 donation can also be made by texting FORTMAC to 45678.
Due to the generosity of its guests, Salvation Army thrift stores across the country raised more than $30,000 to aid survivors of the Alberta floods and Lac Megantic train derailment.
Funds raised are providing product and practical support to Salvation Army ministry units involved in relief efforts.
Those affected by these tragedies continue to be in great need.

Through our flood relief efforts in Alberta, The Salvation Army is serving over 1,200 people per day with food, hydration and emotional & spiritual care.
In Medicine Hat, we continue to respond to needs as they arise with hydration, emotional and spiritual care and other basic necessities. Our shelter suffered some damage from water and the extent of this is still being assessed.
