Food Bank May Feel Effects Of Rising Prices

Experts are predicting a sharp rise in food prices as drought conditions continue throughout much of the United States and parts of eastern Canada. Lt. Peter Robertson from the Salvation Army in Portage, la Prairie, says people who are already accessing the food bank are having enough trouble making ends meet as it is, so any increase in the price of food means less money in their pockets.

Robertson notes folks will either have to eliminate something else from their lives or cut back on the amount of food they’re able to purchase themselves, adding if prices do go up significantly the need in our community will rise as well.
