Donation Bins Spark Turf War

The business of taking donated clothes and selling them is so lucrative it has created a cut-throat turf war in Ontario.

Since people have discovered there’s a lot of money involved, violence has escalated. People are getting beat up, bins are being stolen or burned out.

Those who donate to charity bins are shocked and outraged.

Bins are intended to help people living in poverty.

Salvation Army Thrift Stores depend on donated items to both generate funds for community programs and provide good quality items at the lowest possible prices to assist people in crisis.

Money being made from used clothes collected from roadside bins is a big and nasty business.

  1. Maybe the Sally Ann should start picking up donations . This would correct the problem . this would also ad a personal touch to those who donate..

  2. Where are the drop boxes that are safe? I drove out to one I used to use, but it has gone. I can’t find where to drop-off two bags of very nice clothes. It would be a good idea if you listed on this website, where to drop off. Or, if it is listed, make it easier to find!!
