Acts of Kindness on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a day of romance. It can be a day of kindness with opportunity to spread good will.

On February 14 in Williams Lake, B.C. the “empty bowl” project will raise funds and awareness for The Salvation Food Bank and hunger in that community.

Cariboo Potters Guild, with a membership of 45, will contribute at least 200 hand-made bowls to the event that will be hosted by a local Bistro. The public is invited to buy a bowl of soup with bread for $15.

Guests can take their bowl home with them in the hopes they will think of those who don’t have enough to eat in the following days.

What acts of kindness have warmed your heart?

  1. I remember one Valentines Day when I went to the Salvation Army Hostile in Toronto, Ontario with some good clothes. I asked the person in charge if there was anyone trying to look for work. She guided me to a young woman who had fallen on hard times. I gave the clothes to her. In one of those pockets was over $100. Happy Valentines Day!
