Its too bad they closed "The Valley"
I checked myself into MV in Jan of 2001,just after getting fired from a job I had for 30 years,I was strung out on cocaine.
The Valley opened up its arms to me and started the process of getting me clean.
The counsellor's were ex addicts themselves and made it really easy to connect.
I gained back so many mental qaulities that I had before.
I met some really nice guy's in there........I am truly grateful.
Although I relapsed when I got out,I think it was what I learned in MV that finally helped me kick my habit.
Thank You Sally Ann

I was truly saddened by the news of The Miricle Valley closing.I had the privilege to refer a number of people to the centre while I worked for The Salvation Army in Nelson,B.C. I have also toured the place and am real sorry to see it close

I had the extreme privileged of attending Miracle Valley for treatment in the spring of 2002. It was sad news that it closed for there really is nothing quite like it anywhere. I know, I have been there!!!

Captain 'Banjo' Bill Leslie was our corps officer at Long Branch Ontario where my father was Bandmaster. Capt. Leslie would take us in singing 'Victory in Jesus' with his guitar straddling the pulpit. From there Bill was appointed to the work at Vancouver's harborlight corps. The family caught up with the Leslie's in 1959 on our way to settle in Australia. While in Vancouver, the captain drove us through the harborlight district and I saw for the first time the field to which he was appointed. I can still see the men gripped by addiction lying on the pavement and Bill documenting this on 16mm film as we drove through the streets. His broad smile and example have stayed with me down the years and can only say of his work, "What hath God wrought"!

The Salvation Army is a true friend. It is unfortunate to hear of the closing of one of its centres. The end of the Common Era may be around the corner but there is still a ways to go yet. Social services will have to hang in there as long as they can while things become increasingly difficult.
There's a way to get help. Be open-minded that there is a God, a first-mover of our universe. That first-mover is the God mentioned throughout the bible. If you haven't already read it, read ISAIAH Chapter 58. We can all learn alot from this one chapter. Then close your reading off by reading the final chapter (ch 22) of the book of Revelation.

The staff were truely miracle workers, and have given me the the tools to lead a clean a sobber life style. I have been clean and sober for the last 17 months, and would like to thank the salvation army for gift they have given me, every opportunity I have, I try to pay it Forward!
