Salvation Army trained personnel from its International Headquarters in London, England and Southern U.S, will be on the ground in Haiti as soon as possible. They will do a speedy, but detailed assessment of what needs to be done, the capacity of the Army to meet those needs and what outside assistance will be required, both in funds and personnel.
It is still somewhat difficult to receive news due to the serious breakdown in communication. The Salvation Army continues to contact its workers in Haiti to ensure their safety as they assess immediate needs and provide relief where possible.
Please support The Salvation Army’s relief effort in Haiti. Financial contributions can be made by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY (725-2769), by visiting our website, www.SalvationArmy.ca, by mailing donations to The Salvation Army Territorial Headquarters, Canada and Bermuda, 2 Overlea Blvd., Toronto, Ontario M4H 1P4, or dropping off financial donations at the closest Salvation Army unit in your area. Donors should specify their gift to the Haiti Earthquake Disaster Relief Fund.

Hi James, we were wondering the same thing about volunteer aid worker opportunities in Haiti. Like yourself we are both Graduate students in Toronto, willing to help out for one week. Please let us know if you get through with an organization, you can reply back to this post.
Thank you
