Salvation Army Responds to Devastating Historical Church Fire

The Salvation Army will replace 97 Christmas hampers that were lost in the fire at All Saints’ Anglican Church in Whitby on Monday December 14. The hampers, which included toys and food, were due to be delivered this week to those in need within the community.
The fire, which was reported by a snow removal crew shortly before 5 a.m., destroyed the historical church. Salvation Army personnel were on the scene in the early morning hours preparing breakfast for first responders.

The Salvation Army wants to ensure the church can meet the needs of those who were expecting assistance this Christmas.
To make a financial contribution to The Salvation Army in support of this initiative, donors can give on-line at SalvationArmy.ca and specify their gift to the ‘Whitby fire’ or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY to make a donation over the phone. These donations will be used to replenish any costs associated with providing Christmas hampers to All Saints’ Anglican Church and any amount over and above this will remain within the Whitby community to support The Salvation Army Community and Family Services programs.
