The Salvation Army’s Gateway of Hope, a modern, state of the art facility for the homeless and at-risk population in Langley, B.C., officially opens its doors today, November 27.
The three-storey development provides 30 emergency shelter beds and 25 supportive independent living transitional beds for the homeless or those at risk of homelessness in the community. But the facility offers more than shelter.
Clients will benefit from:
A daily meal centre that serves seven meals a week. It is expected that more than 75,000 meals will be served each year.
Counselling services where, in partnership with Trinity Western University, masters level counselling is available for Gateway guests and Langley residents.
A chef training program that will see more than 20 men and women graduate from the program each year.
The hospitality server training program where men and women are trained for immediate employment placement in the food service industry.
The building service worker training program where men and women are trained as custodians.
The Salvation Army thanks the Federal, Provincial and Municipal levels of government, as well as countless other private, corporate and group donations for funding and a shared vision that will help individuals regain their independence in the community.
The City of Langley Mayor Peter Fassbender says: “The Gateway of Hope will go a long way towards providing an effective long-term solution to the issue of homelessness in our community.”

Happy New Year! As the relatively new children’s director at our church here in Fort Langley, I would love to offer a service opportunity or two over the period of Lent (Feb/March) that would engage parents of small and school aged children working alongside each other in service to those in the area of Langley. I would LOVE to hear back from someone in volunteer coordination about specific needs/opportunities you may have and arrange a time for a visit to your facility,. Thanks for being a beacon of light in Langley.

I am so happy that Gary Johnson had a vision and stepped up and went for his dream and tht is to give care and love too all humans. I am so proud of Gary. He gave me my first start at Harbour Light , I needed $180.00 to start school, with out the money I would of had to wait a year. Because of this I am a certified Addiction and Family counselor, I co-run two SRH based on the 12 Step model of recovery focusing on Crime Addiction in Vancouver and have been 6 yearts clean and sober & Crime Free because of the 12 steps to Crime Addiction Anonymous meetings & Blessings from god. So I know frist hand the love the Ct. will recieve at the GateWay of Hope and I am a living example of the good change will do in recovery if you make the right choices.
