I am giving up anger for Lent. It is a tough road to hoe but I find myself laughing more and enjoying life in general. Peace and contentment come more quickly. When I consider the anger of the Lord in casting out the wheelers and dealers of the Temple, I know that His anger was a purposeful teaching tool in His ministry. In this lead up season of Lent to the scene in the Garden, I can only imagine the anger Christ must have experienced knowing that Judas would betray him only to be denied 3 times by another of the Apostles. How many times can we say of those who betray us"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do?"

This year for lent, although I'm a light drinker, I'll give up alcohol, and will also improve my diet.

What dose someone give up when it's only 40 days and how sincer can it be if you can go back to it. How about what are you going to give for fourty days? We tend to give up personal sins or indulgences which do nothing for our fellow man. I propose we all give up our free time and for fourty days do something kind to benifit those that need it most. give a smile a complement a hug or your time to genuinly listen to someone. Lent can be about everyone and not just one. Take care all. Pete. iddon6@yahoo.ca

Hey Alison,

I'm a producer with CBC French TV and I'm doing some research on people like yourself who have given up social networks during Lent. Could I perhaps send you an e-mail, or get in touch with you some other way? You can send me an e-mail at myh@shaw.ca

Thanks,

Marc Hébert

I decided to give up Facebook for Lent. Although I think the sense of community on FB is good I find I end up spending/wasting a lot of time on it. I thought that if Lent is a time for reflection and prayer I could gain some time in order to do that by giving it up. So far so good! :)

Our corps holds a soup and bun luncheon each Sunday at noon, following the morning service. This is to replace the regular Sunday meal at home or at a restuarant. In place of what you would spend for your Sunday meal, money is given for our Partners in Mission fund raising.
