Vancouver Radio Stations Make History on Toys for Teens Day

Dec 9 – VAN – Thieves broke into a Salvation Army warehouse last Thursday morning on Vancouver’s east side and stole $25,000 worth of goods destined for teenage kids this Christmas, including turkeys from the freezer and toys for the teens.

Today, December 9, for the first time in history, every radio station in Vancouver has joined forces to help refill that warehouse. The seven radio stations involved are asking donors to drop off a new, unwrapped toy for a teen or make a cash donation at determined locations. Donations can also be made at SalvationArmy.ca, specifying toys for teens, Vancouver.

Major Brian Venables, Divisional Secretary for The Salvation Army Public Relations & Development in British Columbia says he’s touched people have been inspired to donate, even in these tough economic times.

Never before has Vancouver’s commercial radio group united in unison around a single cause like this.
