News1130 hopes you can help with The Salvation Army Toys For Teens Day

Dec 8 – VAN – News1130 is proud to take part in The Salvation Army Toys For Teens Day tomorrow.

Thieves broke into a Salvation Army warehouse last Thursday morning on Vancouver’s east side and stole $25,000 worth of goods destined for teenage kids this Christmas, including turkeys from the freezer and toys for the teens.

Vancouver Police have now recovered half of the toys and other holiday items that were stolen. The VPD say they recovered the stolen goods in East Vancouver and were even tipped off by other criminals, who were outraged themselves by the charity theft. (See stories in local news section for updates on the investigation).

Major Brian Venables with the Salvation Army says he’s touched people have been inspired to donate, even in these tough economic times.

It still leaves the organization desperately short of their Christmas goals. And News1130 is teaming up with every radio station in Vancouver to help.

Show your support by dropping off a new unwrapped toy for a teen or make a cash donation at the News1130, JACK FM and FM 104.9 studios at 2440 Ash Street from 6am to 6pm tomorrow.

You can also drop off your toy donation at these other locations:

Salvation Army at 128 Cordova Street East, Vancouver

Visions Electronics at 8062 King George Highway in Surrey

Real Canadian Superstore on Grandview Highway at Rupert Street in Vancouver

JACK FM will also be collecting at Metropolis at Metrotown (on the main floor under the Food Court) in Burnaby
