TORONTO, Feb. 20 – The Salvation Army’s Emergency and Disaster
Services has been onsite since early this morning assisting residents and
emergency personnel of the Queen Street Fire.
A relief centre has been setup to assist over 100 fire, police and
emergency personnel. Over 30 individuals who have been displaced have been
redirected to a local community centre for further assistance. “We have
provided those displaced by the fire with a place to meet and to have
something warm to eat and drink while their needs are being assessed,” said
Neil Leduke, Spokesperson for The Salvation Army.
As part of the broader Emergency and Disaster Services plan The Salvation
Army is working in cooperation with city officials on the logistics of
relocating those displaced by the fire.
